About the show

DIDA tells the story of Nikola Ilić, who left his homeland in Serbia some fifteen years ago and followed his heart to Switzerland. He moved away from his grandmother and mother, with whom he had grown up. His mother could never live alone, so he and his grandmother cared for her. But when his grandmother grew old and suddenly died, Nikola was increasingly needed in his old homeland. He felt torn between responsibility and independence, duty and freedom, Serbia and Switzerland. He faced more and more cultural and moral dilemmas. The collaboration with his wife and co-director Corina Schwingruber Ilić is particularly important for DIDA, because their two perspectives reflect two different cultural viewpoints.
