Kino Riffraff, Zürich

About the show

Born into a wealthy family, young Grigoriy Grisha (Miloš Biković) is so comfortable in his pampered life that he believes himself above the law. When he goes too far and faces a prison sentence, his father takes radical measures. With the help of an old friend, a psychologist, he devises a plan to rehabilitate his unruly son. Grisha is caught in a staged car crash and, when he comes to, it is 1860 and he finds himself on a large country estate as an ordinary servant — no connections, no trace of the life he used to lead. The people around him are also serfs, and have never heard of, say, mobile phones. Grisha walks the hard road from spoiled heir to a man who learns to value small joys, honest work, true friendship and, of course, love.
